Workshops and Training

Living and Learning

My passion for teaching and group leadership has led me to take up many and varied training assignments. For more than 20 years I have taught, facilitated, guided, supported and cared for groups or rather the people in them. Group leadership is a well-researched skill but more importantly, group leadership is an art-the art of engaging, connecting, inspiring, motivating, encouraging and being willing to join each person on their individual learning journey while also having expert subject knowledge.

Essentially my teaching arises from my own learning and experience that I have been actively engaged in all my life. Parker Palmer in his book “A Courage to Teach” says: “Good teaching cannot be reduced to technique, good teaching comes from the identity and the integrity of the teacher”.

While I am fully qualified as a group leader, trainer and assessor it is really my passion, commitment, knowledge and life experience that create the quality of my teaching.

For the past two decades, I have been an academic teacher in the field of counselling and psychotherapy education in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate streams. I have worked extensively in higher education (eg. Western Sydney University, University of New England, ACAP) and value accompanying my students to grow into competent and confident therapists.

'We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.' - Galileo Galilei
