Working with a skilled therapist brings clarity — helping you identify what is holding you back and gain a clearer sense of the changes you want to make. With that clarity comes the ability to address challenges directly, with a thoughtful and well-considered approach that supports lasting, long-term outcomes.
Professional support also significantly increases your likelihood of achieving the changes you’re seeking.
Perhaps most importantly, you won’t have to go it alone. A good therapist offers something that is difficult to find elsewhere: a warm, empathic and validating presence that is also consistently professional — a relationship built on trust, care and a genuine commitment to your wellbeing.
How long is each session? Sessions are normally 60 minutes in length. There are some exceptions when a longer session of 90 minutes may be negotiated.
In our first session, we decide together on the frequency that works best for you. Weekly sessions are the most common starting point, providing consistency and momentum in the early stages of the work. That said, sessions can also be scheduled fortnightly or at whatever interval suits your circumstances — whether for financial, geographical or personal reasons.
The length of the therapeutic relationship varies from person to person and depends on a number of factors — the nature and severity of what you’re working through, your own motivation and resources, and your broader life circumstances. Some people benefit from short-term support focused on a specific issue, while others find that deeper, longer-term work is what’s needed. Together, we find the pace and duration that is right for you.
Yes, online (Zoom) consultations are part of my overall client work. People who live locally, around Australia or overseas utilize Telehealth (Zoom consults). The fees are the same as for an in-person consultation.
No, you can make an appointment with me directly and have as many sessions as required. Your information is not shared with anyone (eg. Medicare).
At this time, Medicare does not cover counselling or psychotherapy. However, you may be able to access financial support through your private health fund, so it is worth checking your level of cover. If you are weighing up whether to see a psychotherapist or a psychologist, it is also worth doing a careful cost comparison over the longer term — the right fit for your needs matters as much as the financial consideration.
This depends on your provider and your level of cover. If you’re unsure, it’s worth contacting your fund directly to confirm. Below is a list of private health insurance providers that include coverage for counselling and psychotherapy.

While some couples come to therapy to deepen and enrich an already good relationship, most reach out during a period of crisis — whether in life, in love, or both.
The process begins with an individual consultation with each partner, after which we meet together as a unit. The initial phase focuses on understanding your shared history, the patterns and cycles that have developed between you, and the places in your relationship where pain and disconnection have taken hold.
As the work deepens, it becomes genuinely transformational. Perspectives shift, understanding grows and relational wounds begin to heal. The final phase consolidates what you have both learned and establishes a clear, grounded plan for moving forward together.
Throughout the process, the focus remains on building couple resilience, developing skilful communication — particularly in conflict — and rekindling warmth, intimacy and connection.
For couples who have already decided to separate, therapy can also offer a supported, respectful and compassionate path through that transition.
Beyond couples therapy, I also work with a range of other relational dynamics. This includes family relationships for example parent and adult child or siblings, as well as close friendships navigating a difficult period, and work colleagues seeking professional support to resolve tension and improve their working relationship.
Whatever the relational context, the goal is the same: greater understanding, clearer communication and a stronger, healthier connection.
The poet Rumi wrote: “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field — I’ll meet you there.” This captures something essential about the spirit in which I approach clinical supervision: an open, non-judgmental space where honest exploration is not only welcome but central to the work.
I bring decades of clinical skill and knowledge to supervision, alongside hundreds of hours of experience working with both emerging and seasoned therapists — individually and in group settings. My supervisees tend to stay with me for many years, which I consider a privilege and a testament to the depth of the work we do together.
In our sessions, we collaboratively explore your clinical work, your career path and whatever else arises from your practice. Throughout, your wellbeing remains firmly at the centre. This path we call therapy is by turns delightful, challenging and deeply enriching — and I am honoured to walk alongside you on it.
You may have questions about counselling and psychotherapy, about how I work, whether I have experience working with the particular issue you are facing, fee structure and more. Please get in touch to have an initial free 10-minute conversation and to make an appointment.
